About LaidOffTalent

Hi, I'm Mags Munro. I've spent my career as an executive sourcer, which means my job has always been finding people and connecting them with the right opportunity.

I built LaidOffTalent in June 2026 because my feed was full of talented people who had just been laid off, and recruiters who wanted to hire them, and there was no simple, honest place for the two to meet. The lists that did exist either charged recruiters a monthly fee or pasted people's email addresses into spreadsheets for anyone to scrape. I didn't want to build either of those things.

So here is how this works. If you've been laid off, you create a free profile in about three minutes. Your email address is never shown to anyone, ever. Recruiters who want to search the directory apply for an account, and I review every single one by hand before they get in. If a recruiter behaves badly, they're out. You decide which messages deserve a reply.

It is free for job seekers and free for recruiters. No ads, no selling data, no trial period that quietly expires. That is not a promotion. It is the whole point.

I run this myself alongside my day job, which means it grows a little slower than a venture-backed startup would, and it also means there is a real person reading every recruiter application and every report. If something on the site ever feels off, I want to know about it.

You can find me on LinkedIn.

How recruiters are vetted

  • Every recruiter applies for an account and tells us who they hire for.
  • Each application is reviewed by hand before search access is granted.
  • All messages go through the platform and are logged, so abuse can be reported.
  • Recruiters who spam or misbehave are suspended.
